Body Design offers a number of yoga and fitness classes in and around the Mount Albert community where participants can join a group of like-minded fitness enthusiasts. For a complete list of current classes, check out our Class Schedules. Please note that not all classes run during every session. You can now register online!

YOGA CLASSES

Participants are required to bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. We also offer Private and Semi-Private, In-Home Yoga Sessions – $65.00 + HST/hr.

Class Levels Defined:

How far are you on your yoga journey? Use this guide to see which class level is right for you. As always, safety first: be sure to consult your doctor before beginning this or any other exercise program.

Level 1 – Beginner: Level 1 classes are designed for those who have had no previous exposure to yoga, but are eager to learn and start experiencing the amazing benefits of a yoga practice. The beginner student needs slow-paced direction and a great level of detail so they can become familiar with basic yoga poses and use of the breath.

Level 2 – Experienced Beginner: Level 2 classes are designed for those who have had some exposure to yoga, including an introduction to basic yoga poses and proper alignment. The experienced beginner student would like to explore their practice and begin to become more familiar with poses and use of the breath.

Level 3 – Intermediate: Level 3 classes are designed for those who have a good understanding of the basic yoga postures and have begun to explore a wider variety of poses and styles. The intermediate student understands the relationship between breath and movement.

Level 4 – Advanced-Intermediate: Level 4 classes are designed for more experienced yogis with a very solid understanding of basic yoga postures who are comfortable performing more advanced poses. The advanced-intermediate student practices yoga regularly and has begun to master connection of breath with movement.

All Levels: Come as you are! All levels are suitable or beginners, masters and everyone in between. All classes will offer modifications so that you can customize your class to fit your specific needs and level of expertise.

Beginner Yoga

Level 1: Move, breath, stretch, release and restore as you learn yoga poses and asana. Connect to the mind, body and spirit during this slower paced practice. Learn, grow and challenge yourself in an encouraging environment. All levels and abilities welcome.

Awakening Yoga

Level 3: This class provides dynamic flowing sequences to enrich strength. Moments of restfulness are deeply luxurious.

Inwardly, a journey takes place through affirmations and guided meditations throughout. A range of emotions may be explored in one class with the end result being a deeper knowledge of Self and a calm center. Give yourself permission to be fully Awake, right here, right now. Yoga mat required.

Vinyasa for Vitality

Level 3: Come prepared to move! Students will be lead through a traditional asana practice, linking breath with movement, challenging their own individual strength and flexibility. Our instructor will incorporate both traditional and strength building poses, at a steady pace to increase body heat. This class is recommended for the yogi who is committed to a regular yoga practice, and looking to cultivate awareness, concentration and relaxation.

Essential Yoga

Unlock Strength & Serentiy Level 2: Mind, body and spirit unite as qualified instructors host friendly non-judgmental classes for beginner and seasoned yoga students. Fusing the postures of Vinyasa, Flow and Hatha yoga styles, participants can experience transformations in their physical well-being, emotional balance and spiritual growth. While focusing on breath control and mindfulness, students will develop healthy, resilient muscles, skeletal alignment and joint stability.

Yoga Stretch

Level 1/2: Yoga stretches are one of the best ways to begin restoring your body to better health, by improving balance, flexibility and circulation. In this class we will explore a series of gentle, low impact stretches and poses that will help loosen tense muscles, deepen your breathing and relax your mind. These stretches and postures are easy for anyone to do, because you can tailor them to meet your own body’s needs with simple modifications. Join our welcoming, non-competitive group as yoga stretching exercises are a terrific way to end your day!

Restorative and Relaxing Yoga

Level 1/2: In this slower paced Yoga class, we use breathing techniques, stretches and a variety of asana and restorative poses to help the mind, body and spirit relax, release and restore. Enjoy this practice that helps relieve tension and stress. Join us Friday mornings and be prepared to leave feeling connected, calm and content. Yoga mat and blanket required.


RUNNING CLASSES

All of the Body Design Running Clinics offer small classes led by two instructors who have many years of running experience. This means lots of personal and individualized attention for each participant. Don’t be intimidated...our running classes cater to all running levels and abilities.

10 km Run Clinic

If introductory running has become a comfortable routine, the next step in the journey is to master 10 kms. Clinic classes will consist of interval training and long distance runs, varied strength building and core muscle-building activities, race preparation and visualization tips, feedback and running homework. Participants should be prepared to commit to a three day/week running schedule in order to safely and confidently achieve the 10 km end goal. This is an outdoor program.

FITNESS CLASSES

A variety of classes for individuals of all fitness levels!Body Design supplies Urban Poles for all classes however they are also for sale. Participants can also use their own Urban Poles for classes.

Ultimate Bootcamp

Looking for some challenge and excitement? Do you want to take your fitness level to the next stage? Then our Ultimate Boot Camp class is just what you’re looking for. This class will focus on incorporating Interval Training, Plyometrics and Body Weight Exercises into various types of intense explosive routines. This class is suitable for people who work out regularly or have taken Boot Camp in the past, no beginners please! Bring an exercise/yoga mat, and 5, 8 or 10lb weights, towel and plenty of water. Class will be held outdoors as of the beginning of May.

Bootcamp 101

Our Bootcamp is designed for MAXIMUM calorie burn in the shortest amount of time. We want to get you fit, get you healthy, challenge your mind, challenge your body, and most importantly MAKE FITNESS FUN!

This class is a combination of strength, cardio, muscle endurance, flexibility, core, and functional movement patterns. You get EVERYTHING you need!

Please bring an exercise/yoga mat, 2 or 3lb and 5 or 8lb weights, a towel and plenty of water. BOOTCAMP 101 is geared toward ALL fitness levels. Modifications are always offered for the beginner to the advanced. Class will be held outdoors as of the beginning of May.
